Indian billionaire who served as intermediary between PM Modi and Epstein
Anil Ambani, chairman of India's Reliance Group, maintained regular communications with Jeffrey Epstein between February 2017 and May 2019. The newly released Epstein files reveal that Ambani leveraged Epstein's access to prominent political figures, including Trump administration officials like Jared Kushner and Steve Bannon, to facilitate backchannel diplomatic negotiations on behalf of the Modi government. Their correspondence covered business matters (including Ambani's defense sector expansion and a $750 million personal financing request during his 2019 insolvency crisis), geopolitical strategy discussions, and personal requests. The documents show no evidence of Ambani's involvement in trafficking activities or other criminal misconduct—his relationship with Epstein was transactional and focused on leveraging the financier's political connections. Ambani appears in the Epstein files as a contact seeking business and diplomatic access rather than as a subject of criminal investigation.
