Yale CS professor who called Epstein one of the smartest men he met
David Gelernter, a Yale University computer science professor, was suspended from teaching following the release of Epstein-related documents in January 2026. The documents revealed emails between Gelernter and convicted sex offender Jeffrey Epstein spanning 2009-2015, including a 2011 message in which Gelernter described a Yale student as a 'v small good-looking blonde' when recommending her for a position with Epstein. On February 10, 2026, Gelernter announced he had been 'relieved' from teaching his only class (CPSC 4500) at Yale. While Gelernter defended the emails and claimed he was unaware of Epstein's criminal conviction at the time, there is no evidence of criminal charges or misconduct allegations against him. His removal from teaching appears to be an administrative action by Yale University rather than a legal determination.
David Gelernter was relieved of his teaching duties for CPSC 4500 at Yale University following student outcry over his emails with Jeffrey Epstein describing a student as a small goodlooking blonde.
