Painter listed in Epstein's black book
Eric Fischl is a prominent American painter and figurative artist who served as a post-graduate instructor and mentor to Maria Farmer at the New York Academy of Art (NYAA). His role in the Jeffrey Epstein case is that of a corroborating witness and character supporter for Farmer, one of Epstein's first known accusers. When Farmer was allegedly assaulted by Epstein and Ghislaine Maxwell at Epstein's Manhattan mansion in 1996, she contacted Fischl directly. He recalled telling her urgently to get out of the situation. He later served as a character witness who vouched for Farmer's credibility to journalist Vicky Ward, who was investigating Epstein for Vanity Fair. His corroboration helped establish Farmer as a credible source during early investigative reporting on Epstein. Fischl also holds a position as a trustee and senior critic at the NYAA, an institution that itself had ties to Epstein through his prior board membership. Fischl has no criminal accountability in this case and is not accused of any wrongdoing. His significance in the Epstein investigation is as a trusted art world figure who believed Farmer's account, helped verify it to journalists, and provided moral support to a victim at a time when her allegations were largely suppressed or ignored.
Eric Fischl was Maria Farmer's mentor and professor at the New York Academy of Art, where he advised her over the phone to leave Epstein's property after she reported being assaulted there in 1995, and he led a painting workshop in Santa Fe that Epstein sponsored for NYAA graduates.
