Paul Barrett, head of North American private capital at Citigroup, was terminated from his position after the bank discovered he had scheduled at least five meetings with Jeffrey Epstein between 2014 and 2017 while employed at JPMorgan Chase. Citi initiated an internal investigation after learning of these meetings and Barrett's departure was announced on January 20, 2025, three days after The Wall Street Journal disclosed his contact with Epstein. Barrett had worked at Citi since 2019 and previously spent 18 years at JPMorgan Chase before departing as a managing director in 2018. Court filings reveal Barrett maintained email communications with Epstein and associate Richard Kahn from late 2018 through mid-2019, including during his employment at Citi.
