Princess Sofia of Sweden (née Sofia Hellqvist) was named in the DOJ's released Epstein documents and publicly addressed her past connection to Jeffrey Epstein on February 10, 2026. Prior to joining the Swedish Royal Family, Sofia was an aspiring actress and model in New York when she was introduced to Epstein around 2005 by Swedish businesswoman Barbro Ehnbom, who reportedly ran a network for "young and ambitious women." Sofia has confirmed she met Epstein on two occasions — at a restaurant and a film/movie premiere — in social settings, in her twenties. She declined his invitation to visit his Caribbean island and has had no contact with him for approximately 20 years. The released documents included a 2010 email to Epstein from Barbro Ehnbom containing a photo of Sofia (then still Sofia Hellqvist) captioned "our Sofia — you remember — i.e. soon Princess Sofia… the whole Swedish press is looking for her… while she is in Africa!!" Her name also appeared on a 2012 guest list for a Les Misérables performance, but the Swedish Royal Court stated she does not know how her name ended up there and was in Sweden at the time. The Swedish Royal Court issued a statement confirming that "Princess Sofia recalls meeting Mr Epstein on a few occasions around 20 years ago, many years before the Princess became a member of the Royal Family," and that "the meetings in question took place in social settings, such as at a restaurant and a movie premiere." They further clarified that reports of Epstein assisting her with acting lessons or a U.S. visa were incorrect. In her own public statement, Sofia described Epstein's actions as "terrible crimes," expressed sympathy for his victims, and said: "Now that I have read about the horrific crimes he subjected young women to, I'm so grateful that I've had nothing to do with him since those few occasions in my 20s. My thoughts go out to all the victims." She was not named as a victim, is not under investigation, and faces no legal accountability in connection with the case.
NO DOCUMENT EVIDENCE ON FILE.
