MCC cellmate released day before Epstein death; interviewed by AUSA
Efrain Reyes was Jeffrey Epstein's last cellmate at the Metropolitan Correctional Center (MCC) in New York. He was transferred out of Epstein's cell on August 9, 2019, the day before Epstein's death on August 10, 2019. After his release from custody in April 2020, Reyes contracted COVID-19 at the Queens Detention Facility (where he had been held as a cooperating witness) and died on November 27, 2020, at his mother's apartment in the Bronx, New York. Reyes cooperated with FBI investigators and was questioned by Attorney General William Barr about conditions at MCC and Epstein's treatment by staff.
