MCC CO charged with conspiracy re: Epstein death; DPA
Tova Noel, a correctional officer at the Metropolitan Correctional Center in New York, was charged with falsifying records and conspiracy to defraud the United States in connection with her duties on August 9-10, 2019, when Jeffrey Epstein died in custody. She was accused of failing to conduct required rounds and counts, falsifying prison records, and being present during an unmonitored phone call Epstein made in violation of Bureau of Prisons policy. She and co-defendant Michael Thomas entered into a deferred prosecution agreement in May 2021, and federal prosecutors officially dropped all charges in 2021 after the officers completed the terms of their agreement, which included community service and maintaining good behavior.
