Case Notes

Valdson Vieira Cotrin, who worked as butler, chauffeur, and cook for Jeffrey Epstein for 18 years managing his Paris residence, publicly challenged the official ruling that Epstein died by suicide in August 2019. In exclusive interviews with The Telegraph in August 2025, Cotrin stated that Epstein "loved life too much" to kill himself and was confident of securing bail before his death. Cotrin claimed he had spoken to Epstein shortly before he died and said Epstein was "in good spirits" and "preparing his defense." Cotrin also made allegations about Epstein's connections to various high-profile figures, including claims about Prince Andrew's visits to Epstein's properties, Ghislaine Maxwell's role as the "authoritarian boss" in the household, and allegations involving Donald Trump, Bill Clinton, and others. Cotrin stated he retains photographs of himself with Epstein and Bill Clinton aboard the "Lolita Express." He expressed fear for his own safety and claimed that Virginia Giuffre, an Epstein accuser, was a victim of foul play rather than suicide. Cotrin has called for the Trump administration to release the full Epstein files.
