Real estate developer listed in Epstein's black book; deceased
A. Alfred Taubman (January 31, 1924 – April 17, 2015) was a prominent American billionaire, real estate developer, mall tycoon, and former Sotheby's chairman who appears in Jeffrey Epstein's black book on page 53. Epstein recorded 5 phone numbers and 2 addresses for Taubman — one in Bloomfield Hills, Michigan (200 East Long Lake) and one in Manhattan (7-12 5th Avenue). Taubman's presence in Epstein's contact book appears to reflect elite social and business overlap. Notably, Taubman served as a longtime mentor and business partner to Les Wexner — who is widely regarded as Epstein's primary and most significant financial client. Taubman and Wexner collaborated on numerous real estate ventures beginning in the mid-1960s, which likely placed both men in the same high-net-worth social circles that Epstein cultivated. Taubman was a convicted felon in his own right — unrelated to Epstein. In 2002, he was convicted of antitrust violations for orchestrating a price-fixing scheme between Sotheby's and Christie's auction houses. He served approximately ten months in federal prison and was fined $7.5 million. Taubman died of a heart attack on April 17, 2015, years before the most significant Epstein revelations, indictments, and document disclosures came to light. No investigation, charges, lawsuits, or any other accountability action related to Epstein has ever been attributed to Taubman. His appearance in the black book reflects contact-list proximity — likely the result of his shared social world with Les Wexner — rather than any documented substantive involvement in Epstein's criminal conduct.
